It’s that time of year again! The time when Pantone releases the color of the year and for the next few months, EVERYTHING will be in that designated shade. You may remember the past few years gave us bright bold colors such as Radiant Orchid, Emerald, Tangerine Tango. As well as rich hues such as Chili Pepper, Tigerlily, and this past years Marsala. This year it was no surprise we would receive something softer and different than the past few years.
However, the company pulled a fast one on us by releasing not one, but TWO colors! The colors for 2016 are officially Rose quartz and serenity!
These colors apparently represent Gender fluidity and the blurring of gender rules in both the fashion world and in real life. Gender has taken center stage this past year with celebrity transitions, models taking on roles as male and female both in editorial shoots and catwalk shows, and of course, stylistic changes in both mens and women fashion.
These two colors not only complement each other beautifully, but finally give warm toned and cool toned ladies a color option. Rose quartz is a beautiful warm pastel pink, bordering on the classic ballet slipper feel. Extremely feminine, it is a perfect color for spring and summer. Serenity, my personal favorite, is an almost periwinkle blue. This color is unique, it’s not pure blue, not a grey, nor lilac. It is masculine and feminine all in one. Both colors pair well with grey, mossy greens, a variety of purples and even certain yellow tones. These two colors have the ability to flatter both men and women of all age groups, where past colors may have been more limiting.
Here are just a few ways you can incorporate these colors into your wardrobe.
Rose quartz and serenity will not only take the fashion world by storm, but Sephora has already debuted their 2016 pantone collection. No doubt this collection will be a hit, as many of their past ones were as well.
